Ontario Invites Over 758 Express Entry Candidates To Apply For Provincial Nomination

Ontario is known as one of the prominent cities in Canada. Same as Toronto and a few others.

The province recently conducted another provincial nominee program (PNP) draw. This was aimed at targeting Skilled trade workers in the express entry system. This was held on June 17.

Invitations were sent out to 758 express entry Candidates by the Ontario Immigrant Nominee program (OINP). These were basically people who qualified for the Express Entry skilled trades stream.

It might interest you to know that this is the largest number of individuals invited through this program in a single draw since January 18th, 2018.

To be a part of this, there are requirements. These requirements includes having work experience as a tradesperson. There’s also need for a valid profile in the express entry pool. These results are processed via a comprehensive ranking system (CRS) score between 400 and 436.

Before now, we talked on being able to immigrate to Canada via express entry. If you missed out on that, we recommend reading more on that here.

Based on the recent draw by Ontario, Express Entry Candidates are alloted a score on the comprehensive ranking system (CRS) that is based on human capital factors. These factors includes age, work experience, educational qualifications, and proficiency in English or French. You can test your understanding of English language HERE. And you can test your understanding of French HERE.

On the basis that the Candidate who received an invitation or notification of interest (NOI) and successfully obtained the provincial nomination, he/she will be given an extra 600 points. This will be towards their CRS score.

Based on the Express entry program, points are very necessary. The higher the points, the higher your chances of being nominated. Hence, these extra points will practically ensure an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in subsequent express entry draws.

In total, Ontario has had a total of 948 skilled trades stream applicants that have been invited to immigration so far this year. Perhaps, this is going in line with Canada aiming to invite over 1 million immigrants on or before 2021. It’s also worth mentioning that a similar draw was conducted in April targeting specific trades occupations.

Ontario’s proposed allocation for 2020 is 7,600 principal candidates. This is over the course of this year. This is to include 250 nominations for temporary foreign workers in an intermediate skilled occupation or national occupation classification (NOC) skill level C.

Perhaps we should also mention that in 2019, over half of Ontario’s 7,391 PNP applicants were express entry Candidates.
